Planning Permission Granted for 2-Bed Eco-Home Rotunda
The excitement was tangible at the Rotunda Design Studio and HQ yesterday as we learnt that Planning Approval has been granted for a 2-Bed eco-home Rotunda Roundhouse on the Sharpness Canal in Gloucestershire.
The Parish council comments noted that:
The replacement building is an innovative design of exceptional quality that lies within the extremities of the current building. The design respects the sensitivity and character of the area and the HPC Planning Group believes it has potential to be a new landmark building in an important setting for Hardwicke.
And went on to comment that:
The developer should be commended for the respect shown to the sensitive nature of the area.
Local Plan policies considered for this application include:
CP1 – Presumption in favour of sustainable development.
CP2 – Strategic growth and development locations
CP3 – Settlement Hierarchy.
CP14 – High quality sustainable development.
CP15 – A quality living and working countryside.
HC5 – Replacement dwellings
ES3 – Maintaining quality of life within our environmental limits.
ES6 – Providing for biodiversity and geodiversity.
ES12 – Better design of places.
Preparations are now underway to demolish the existing building and clear the site for the footings to go in. As this happens, we are working with our architect to collate and update the documentation required for Buildings Control and allocate the manufacturing capacity to get the building constructed ready for it’s arrival in the spring.
The replacement – characteristics of the original dwelling house are retained and transferred over to the new structure to preserve the local character
